Jazzy's Dance

Jazz guitarist Nicholas Hoffman released this CD in Feburary 2000. Accompanying Nicholas on this venture are veteran saxman Hadley Caliman, fleet-fingered Joey Defrancesco's smokin' B3 (on the first half), Oakland treasure Dave Mathews (piloting the organ on the second half), and telepathic Seattle trapsman Mark Ivester. Hadley and Dave in action

Jasmine (Jazzy)
busy engineer From Bluesman Willie Dixon's "My Babe", to Rodgers and Hart's "This Can't Be Love", to the 6/8 modal vamp of the title track, "Jazzy's Dance", there was plenty of room to stretch out at this session. Nicholas turns up the heat on "Old Devil Moon," but fire extinguishers had to be called in after Joey's solo on Larry Young's "Backup". Hadley wails, there's no other word for it. Dave gets that dirty funky thing going on his shift at the Hammond, while Mark provides big sparks with his polyrhythmic pulse. Check it out!!
